Aircraft Features

The Gulfstream II (G-II) was an American twin-engine business aircraft designed and built by Grumman, then the Gulfstream American. It was replaced by the Gulfstream III. The first Gulfstream II flew on October 2, 1966. The first machines were delivered to the flight departments of National Distillers & Chemical, Coca-Cola, Dow Jones, Noshe Oil and Pulitzer Publishing.

Gulfstream II scheme

The design of the Grumman Gulfstream II was based in part on the pre-existing Grumman Gulfstream I, which appeared a few years earlier and became quite popular with owners.
A modified version of the C-11, called the Shuttle Training Aircraft (STA), mimics the cockpit configuration and flight characteristics of the Space Shuttle and is used by NASA as a training aircraft for training landings with the Shuttle (called "dives").

Gulfstream II cabin

Gulfstreamll was continually improved during its production run. The adoption in May 1975 of Parts 25 and 36 of the FAP (Federal Air Regulations) forced a reduction in the noise level of the Spey engines (from No. 166). On No. 173 for the first time there were tanks on the wingtips which increased the range by 555 km. The tanked aircraft were called the Gulfstream II TT. Later series GIIs received improved avionics.

The 12-seat GII will climb to an altitude of 4,350 feet per minute and has a practical ceiling of 42,500 feet. It normally cruises at 450 to 475 knots and has a range of 2,625 nautical miles with a full landing. The longer range variant, the GIIB (GII equipped with a GIII wing), would fly more than 3,500 nautical miles. Sixteen copies of another variant, the GIITT, were produced. These are equipped with GII wing and nose tanks (torpedo-like structures attached to the ends of the wings that contain extra fuel). Under typical loads, the GII can comfortably use 5,000-foot runways. Of the 256 GIIs produced between 1966 and 1979, 240 remain in service.

Interior and Cabin

The cabin is about the same size as the Gulfstream IV. It's a comfortable 1,270 cubic feet, 39 feet long, seven feet wide and six feet high - enough room for four club seats, four more conference seats with a table and one or two sofas. The galley and toilet are located behind the passenger seats. A luggage compartment of 157 cubic feet is accessible through the lavatory during the flight. The compartment can be loaded externally. The cabin is flooded with natural light thanks to Gulfstream's large signature elliptical windows.

If you have chosen an airplane and want to book a private flight on a Gulfstream II - just fill out the special form below:

In some cases, you can use Jet Sharing or Empty Legs systems to reduce the final price. In a nutshell, Jet Sharing allows you to divide the total cost of renting an airplane between all participants of the flight – it means that you shouldn’t pay for the whole plane, but for a specific seat. Therefore, it is often also called a business jet rental.

online calculation of private jet costs

As for Empty Legs, it is a system of return flights. That is, if a person orders a flight by Gulfstream II to a specific direction - the plane will fly back empty. In fact, it returns to the home airport without passengers. As a rule, such flights have a specific departure date and a certain time interval. If it suits you, you will be able to make a private flight with a discount of up to 70% of the usual cost of the flight. If you need a non-urgent flight, we recommend that you leave a request to our consultants and they will choose the best Empty Legs option for you, taking into account all your wishes. We use exclusive bases, taking into account the offers of the best European business aviation operators.
