Aircraft Features

The Adam A500 is a six-seat (1+5) civilian business jet that has been in serial production by Adam Aircraft, Inc. of America since 2005.

The Adam A500 is aimed at the lower end of the business aviation market. When designing the aircraft, the developers tried to minimize the cost of maintaining and operating the aircraft for its future owners, but at the same time to give it the best flight performance. This was the reason for choosing piston rather than jet engines.

The airplane is built according to the "push-pull" scheme, where two propellers are placed in front and behind the airplane. The first propeller (pulling) pulls the aircraft forward while the second (pushing) pushes it from behind. Both TSIO 550E engines, manufactured by Teledune Continental Motors, are located inside the fuselage of the aircraft. At opposite ends of the fuselage are installed propellers. Such a solution made it possible to increase the speed, bringing it close to the speed of jet aircraft.

The aircraft is constructed almost entirely of composite materials, which significantly reduces its weight and, consequently, its fuel consumption. The weight of the aircraft also has a positive effect on its speed.

The Adam A500 AdamJet aircraft has two piston engines located in a rather unusual manner - one engine is located in the front nose of the aircraft and the other in the inter-tail section, resulting in a pulling force generated by the scheme of one "pulling" and one "pushing" engine. Such decision of the American engineers allowed to increase speed of the aircraft about 10-15%, reaching the value of 417 km/h, but there is also a very negative moment - it is very difficult for the pilot to control such arrangement of engines, at least, it requires special skills, which again makes the aircraft suitable not for everyone.
