Aircraft Features

The Bombardier Global 7000 is an ultra-long-range, high-speed administrative aircraft developed by Bombardier Aerospace, Canada.

Now the Global 7000 is the only business jet that can fly without landing from New York to Hong Kong and from Singapore to San Francisco. The aircraft also set a record for speed close to the sound barrier - 0.995M.

Its main competitor is Gulfstream Aerospace's flagship product, the G650. The Global 7000 represents a new generation of long-range aircraft. The Global 7000 inherits the fuselage cross-section of the other Global models, but will be 3.44 meters larger. As a result, it will have the largest cockpit of any aircraft in this class. 

Global 7000 gliders will be made mainly of conventional aircraft alloys. Composite materials are used in the production of the horizontal stabilizer, fairings and control surfaces.

The wing design is being developed from a clean sheet. The wing area will be significantly larger than that of the Global 5000 and XRS. The sweep of the wing is likely to remain the same, 35 degrees, but the profile will have a lower relative thickness optimized for flight at 0.85M. In addition, the wingspan will be increased by 3 m, and the new tips will help to reduce not only the inductive resistance, but also the resistance of compaction jumps in the place of attachment "wings".

The Global 7000's fuel efficiency will be 14-18% higher (at a cruising speed of 0.85M) than that of the Global 5000 or Global XRS on similar flights. Replacing the Rolls-Royce BR710 turbofan engines with General Electric's new TechX (aka Pas╜sport) should yield an 8% gain in fuel efficiency, with the remaining 6-10% possibly coming from reduced aerodynamic drag.

The Global 7000 takes only 6% more fuel than the XRS. The 16% range difference should be covered by improved fuel efficiency. This is ambitious, considering that a longer fuselage and larger wings create, by definition, more drag. Moreover, the operating weight of the Global 7000 will be 2.5 tons higher, and its maximum takeoff weight will be 3 tons higher. Let's say more: with a maximum takeoff weight of 48.2 tons, this aircraft will be the heaviest business jet in the history of specialized business aviation aircraft to date.
